Job Summary

The Farmhouse Eatery Lockport is a new restaurant set to open October 1st of this year. Our brand is farm-to-table, polished casual, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Join our team for orientation as a Prep Cook where your passion for hospitality and dedication to excellence will shine!

In your role, you will be responsible for preparing fresh ingredients, prepping items according to recipes and pars, and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment. Your culinary expertise and attention to safety standards helps to ensure every plate served meets our high-quality expectations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting while contributing to memorable dining experiences.

Responsibilities Prepare ingredients and assemble prep items according to established recipes and menu specifications

Cook prep items with precision, ensuring proper temperature and quality standards are met

Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, ovens, fryers, and food processors

Follow food safety protocols and handle ingredients with care to prevent contamination

Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment through regular cleaning and sanitation practices

Prep food items in according to the daily list and pars provided by the chef

Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and ensure timely service

Assist with menu planning by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation techniques

Skills Previous restaurant or baking experience is highly desirable

Proven food preparation and cooking skills within a restaurant or food industry setting

Strong knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures

Knife skills, slicing techniques, and familiarity with recipe adherence

Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently

Good communication skills to coordinate seamlessly with kitchen team members

A "clean as you go" mentality and dedication to high sanitation standards

Demonstrated ability to maintain high safety standards during production and cleaning tasks

For a baking assistant - knowledge of baking techniques related to bread making, cake basics, meringues, sauces, etc is essential
