The Eatery at Yavapai College is dedicated to serving delicious meals that focus on local and seasonal ingredients, promote nutrition for academic and athletic performance, and prioritize sustainability in our food practices. We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Line/Prep Cook to join our team on a full-time basis. This role is crucial in preparing and cooking meals that reflect our commitment to using local and seasonal ingredients, promoting nutrition for academic and athletic performance, and practicing sustainability in our culinary operations. We are seeking candidates with excellent communication and multi-tasking skills to play a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction.

Utilize local and seasonal ingredients to create nutritious and flavorful dishes

• Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met at all times
• Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality, and in a timely manner
• Contribute to the maintenance of a sustainable kitchen environment by minimizing waste and practicing eco-friendly cooking methods
• Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
• Completing all tasks, in order, on the prep list from the Executive Chef or Sous Chef
• Labeling and stocking all ingredients on easily accessible shelves
• Washing, chopping and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables and meats
• Catering and special events
• Dishwashing
• Clean up station and kitchen daily
• Stock inventory appropriately
• Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Proven experience as a Line Cook in a fast-paced kitchen environment

• Knowledge of local and seasonal ingredients and their culinary applications
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
• High school Diploma or GED or Currently Enrolled
• Current Arizona Food Handlers Card
• Help with setups when needed
• Ability to keep bathrooms clean and sanitized and stocked
• Identifies issues with buildings and equipment and requests work orders
• Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties
• Ability to communicate effectively with peers and managers in person, by phone and email
• Work after hours and weekends to cover shows at the Performing Arts Center, special events and projects
• Ability to perform the safe operation of vehicles, equipment, and tools

All Other Campuses and Sites receive a $140 credit each semester (fall and spring) to be used at the Open Market on campus/center

Spanish Interpreter Incentive Program: Employees interested in additional compensation for their Spanish speaking skills agree to assist YC by attending two recruiting events and being available for Spanish Interpretation needs as they arise. Employees that are interested in participating let your HR Business partner know, so they can schedule you for the ACTFL language proficiency test at the YC testing center.
