The Dougherty County School System is seeking a qualified and dedicated Electrician to join our Facilities & Maintenance Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing skilled electrical work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems across district buildings and facilities.
Technical training in electrical system installation, repair and maintenance;

• Experience as an electrician in all phases of electrical work;
• Minimum of 5 years of professional electrical experience;
• Knowledge of state/local electrical codes and safety regulation;
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects across various district locations;
• Clear verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with facilities staff, administrators, and vendors;
• Maintains a courteous, respectful demeanor in a school environment with staff, students, and the public.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, lighting, outlets, and other related systems schools and administrative buildings;
• Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards;
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems using appropriate testing devices;
• Coordinate with maintenance staff and contractors as needed;
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, and inspections;
• Respond to emergency calls and perform preventative maintenance as scheduled;
• Assist in energy efficiency and lighting upgrade projects;
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and crouch for extended periods throughout the workday;
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (occasionally heavier with assistance);
• Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts at varying heights (including ceilings and rooftops);
• Capable of performing work in tight spaces, such as crawl spaces, attics, and electrical closets;
• Visual and auditory ability to safely perform all duties, including reading schematics, identifying wire colors, and hearing alarms or signals;
• Must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including hot, cold, dusty, or noisy areas;
• Occasional need to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, and respirators;
