As a Structural Engineer- Bridge with 4+ years of experience you'll play a key role in supporting the firm and shaping projects that make a difference-from concept through completion. You'll collaborate with talented teammates, contribute your expertise, and help us deliver thoughtful, high-quality solutions for those we serve.

Design projects as a structural engineer for transportation projects of various sizes. Additional responsibilities include overseeing shop drawing reviews

Leading innovative bridge and civil structures projects

Work closely with clients and have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects, including: Bridge and box culvert design, lake and dam spillways, retaining walls and tunnels, park structures, water and wastewater treatment plant concrete tanks, and riverfront developments

Must be capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously

Must be able to drive and have access to an automobile, climb ladders and work off of elevated platforms and open grating, and wear personal protective equipment required for specific clients and sites

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field

Experience: 4+ years in Structural Engineering

Experience with Iowa DOT projects is a plus

Experience leading project teams and interfacing with clients

Experience with OpenBridge Modeler, OpenRoads Designer, Microstation and other bridge design software is a an advantage

This position is primarily performed in an office or hybrid environment and may require travel to project sites, other Shive-Hattery office locations or to meet with clients. The role involves sitting, standing, and working at a computer for extended periods. the wearing of PPE and navigating active construction sites.
