Program Coordinator
The mission of Hope the Mission (HTM) is to prevent, reduce, and eliminate poverty, hunger, and homelessness by offering immediate assistance and long-term solutions.
The San Diego Storage Connect Center provides a safe, low-barrier storage solution for individuals experiencing homelessness to securely store personal belongings. Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the overall management and daily operations of the site. This position provides direct supervision to Bin Runners, Intake Specialists, and Administrative staff, ensuring efficient service delivery, accurate data management, participant engagement, and compliance with established program policies and procedures. The Program Coordinator upholds the mission of Hope the Mission by providing effective leadership, maintaining operational oversight, and supporting a team of direct service staff serving individuals experiencing homelessness. This position requires the ability to travel, with approximately 25% of time spent driving for program-related purposes.
Provide oversight of operational components including accurate, up-to-date data collection, quality assurance and contract management adhering to guidelines set for in the Scope of Required Services and standards. Manage timely progress of program goals, objectives and performance targets, making necessary adjustments in a timely manner in order to improve outcomes.
Ensure program/contract compliance as per guidelines and requirements mandated by LAHSA for interim housing programs, regularly reviewing logs, records, and data.
Assist with client issues as needed (conflicts and complaint resolution) using de-escalation and mediation techniques.
Ensure implementation of housing first, harm reduction and trauma informed care methodologies when appropriate.

• In collaboration with the Program Manager, provide direction and training to shelter support staff (including, but not limited to, Client Services Monitors and Case Managers) and the corresponding job duties assigned to each position.
• Provide training and support to shelter support staff
• Oversee bin storage operations, including tracking daily bin utilization and storage capacity.
• Establish and maintain positive, productive working relationships with community partners and community stakeholders including mental health programs, shelter programs, local law enforcement, local neighborhood councils (and other local officials), and providers of services and resources to homeless persons.
• Attend staff meetings, case conferences, training workshops, and community meetings as needed.
• Prepared to provide coverage for other roles as needed in the event of staff absences, with particular emphasis on supporting Intake Specialist functions to ensure continuity of intake operations and service levels.
• Review shift reports to monitor staff performance and compliance.
• Review and revise all incident reports, and communicate proactively with the Program Manager regarding all incoming incident reports; Participate in required program staff trainings as well as trainings specific to the Program Coordinator role.
• Take inventory of site needs and submit facility maintenance, IT, and supply order requests with approval from the Program manager.
• Specific Duties-Operations
• Regularly inspect bathroom facilities to verify clean, sanitary conditions.
• Train janitorial and hygiene staff in proper protocol for site/bathroom maintenance.
• Submit all supply orders or facility requests in a timely fashion.
• Performs any other duties, projects and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
• Work with collaboration with outsourced security guard to ensure safety of participants, staff, volunteers and visitors on the property.
• Trains staff on use of security and surveillance systems.
• Observe department guidelines to conduct personal business during breaks and lunch hour.
• Project a positive professional image and adheres to organizational dress code.
• Establish and/or maintain good rapport and working arrangements with co-workers, including the management team and supporting staff.

Performance Review: Annual
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in program and/or staff supervision; knowledge of homeless populations and services, government assistance programs, housing placement, case management procedures, contract and fiscal management preferred.
Homeless service & Housing Navigation experience strongly preferred
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or other related fields preferred or 2 years' experience in the field.
Skills- Commitment to working with homeless individuals in a harm reduction, trauma-informed care setting. Computer literacy- Microsoft Office Suite, HMIS, preferred.
Spanish preferred.

High level of understanding of Evidence-Based Practices such as Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, and Housing First
Demonstrates effective staff supervision

Ability to work flexible hours which include evenings and weekends
