The Research Assistant will be responsible for developing Geant4 and Fluka compatible analysis tools for a HASP experiment. The Research Assistant will work together with a team of 30 undergraduate and high school students who have already designed, built, and tested the HASP experiment. The team consists of students and faculty from a variety of majors and departments, but the experiment and this position is mainly housed in the Department of Physics at Drexel University.
This position is grant-funded; Write python code for creating graphs and data processing
Test python code using both data and simulation information
Predict outcomes using simulations and physics concepts
Debug and revise python code based on predicted outcomes
Mentor undergraduate students in writing, testing, predicting, debugging, and revising code
Minimum of a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Astrophysics
Experience with Geant4, FLUKA, Python
Strong skills in simulation development, data analysis, and calibration design.
This is a Full-Time temporary position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
