At GEO, we believe in the three pillars of employee wellbeing: physical, emotional, and financial. The Counselor is responsible for direct client care, the implementation of evidence‑based readiness and transition programming services for a caseload of participants. It also tracks and documents participant progress in case reports while working to meet all required internal and external contract standards and policies.

Document all assessment and treatment planning.

Documents participants’ attendance, participation and progress in Company database.

Conducts risk/need assessments and creates individual treatment plans for each assigned participant. Meets regularly with participants and documents participants’ progress or regress in Company database (when available).

Enters pertinent information into Company database (when available).

May advise Customer of participants’ progress regularly or at completion of treatment.

Utilizes crisis intervention techniques if an emergency arises.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Counseling, Psychology, Criminal Justice or related field (Master’s Degree preferred).

Certified Addiction Professional endorsement (CAP) or Master’s Level Certified Addictions Professional (MCAP), or Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHC).

Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
