Architectural Job Captain
National multidisciplinary design firm is seeking a talented Architectural Job Captain to join their Los Angeles office. In this role, you will be working on all phases of design & construction documentation of workplace projects. This position requires excellent time management, communication, and technical skills as you work closely with your team developing design concepts into high quality documents.
The firm has 11 offices all around the world focusing on healthcare, arts and culture, community, corporate, education, and government projects. Recently, the firm won the prestigious American Architecture Award for Museums and Cultural Building, along with IIDA Healthcare Design Award.
Responsibilities include:
Developing concepts according to parameters defined by Project Manager or Project Architect
Acting as point person of construction administration for large complex projects by maintaining a presence on the job site and leading efforts related to RFI's, submittals, field coordination, etc.
Producing construction documents in Revit, including plans, sections and details
Assisting with quality control for the design function and integrating and coordinating all disciplines into the building project
Maintaining ongoing communications to understand any project changes, design issues or time/budget constraints that may impact initial assignment
Interacting and communicating effectively and professionally with other team members
Utilizing past knowledge and experience to enhance the quality of product, recognizing problem misuses, communicating impact to team and seeking clarity when necessary
Assuming execution of and assisting with quality control activities for architectural elements on a project
Reviewing drawings, documents and submittals for document compliance and documenting code review and compliance
Keeping lead Architect or designated team leader informed of progress; recognizing problem issues and communicating impact to team, and seeking clarity when necessary
Using past experience and project knowledge to assist the Project Manager keeping in mind schedules/budgets and providing communication as appropriate with team leaders and/or team members who are responsible for work-flow/timelines, etc.
Meeting project design schedule and design construction budgets
Assisting with cost estimates and evaluation of bids with Project Manager
Assisting with the preparation of analysis including alternatives or substitutions to reduce costs
Preferred candidates will have:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture
- 6+ years of experience
- Past experience with construction administration
- Interest in working on medium-to-large scale project types in a very collaborative environment
- Proficiency in Revit required; experience with SketchUp, Enscape, and other graphic tools desired; strong 2D and 3D graphics skills are essential
