Job Description
Requirements:

• Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• CCRN certification preferred
• 1+ years of CVICU/cardiac critical care experience required
• Experience with post-cardiac surgery care, hemodynamic monitoring, and mechanical circulatory support

Duties:
Provide direct, comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiac and post-cardiothoracic surgery patients
Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in hemodynamic and cardiac status, escalating care as needed
Administer medications, including titratable vasoactive and antiarrhythmic drips, per physician orders
Manage and monitor advanced life support and cardiac equipment (ventilators, arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, IABP, ECMO as applicable)
Provide immediate post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients, including chest tube and pacing wire management
Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, intensivists, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
Perform rapid response and code interventions as needed
Educate patients and families on condition, treatment plan, and recovery process
Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient response in the EMR
Maintain 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios per acuity and facility staffing guidelines
