Emergency Veterinarian (ER Flex)

Position
Emergency Doctor at Animal Emergency & Referral Associates (AERA) in West Caldwell, New Jersey.

Responsibilities
Our Emergency Doctors manage inpatient cases, triage incoming patients, and handle lacerations, basic wounds, urinary obstructions, enucleations, and other emergent conditions. They may perform surgery, cut and train in surgery as well as endoscopic foreign body removal if interested. Both experienced clinicians and new graduates are considered.

Mentorship Program
The ER Immerse Program prepares veterinarians for a sustainable and satisfying career in emergency medicine, providing clinical knowledge and skills, client and team communication, professional skills, and work‑life integration. The program is hybrid, incorporating simulation‑based didactics and authentic training with live patients. The 6‑9 month mentorship runs four days per week.

Program Duration/Commitment

6‑9 month training program - start date flexible.

1 year commitment as an ER clinician at AERA following completion of the mentorship.

Schedule

Three 12‑hour shifts per week, rotating shifts (four shifts per week for new graduates in the mentorship program).

Shift times: 8AM‑8PM, 12PM‑12AM, 8PM‑8AM.

Includes an average of two weekends per month and four holidays per year.

Competitive salary ranging from $180K - 220K, commensurate with experience, plus production.
