Salary Range: $16.50 – $16.50 Hourly

Summary Responsible for demonstrating and promoting SRIM’s core value of the golden rule by treating residents, families, and associates in the same way we would like to be treated. With minimal supervision and guidance from the Maintenance Director, the role is accountable for assisting in the planning and coordination of all functions of the maintenance department to ensure an efficiently run community for environmental services.

Duties and Responsibilities Assists in monitoring, coordinating or completing maintenance duties to ensure the community is always clean, orderly, safe, and attractive.

Reacts and takes the lead in emergency repairs of any kind regarding equipment breakdown, seeks methods for completing repairs, and accomplishes same within technical capabilities.

Assists and follows through on aesthetic improvement plans both inside and outside the building, including painting, touch‑up painting, staining woodwork, drywall repairs, and minor building repairs.

Assists new residents with moving furniture in their room and assists residents when appropriate as deemed necessary by the director of maintenance.

Provides hands‑on repairs on an as‑needed basis to ensure a pro‑active approach to all maintenance activities.

Refrains from discussing resident issues with families and visitors and refers all inquiries to the immediate nursing supervisor.

Wears clean and appropriate dress per established dress code policy.

Coordinates contracted services and monitors all maintenance functions to ensure adherence to schedule and quality in the absence of the director of maintenance.

Performs daily walk‑arounds both inside and outside the community, repairs/touch‑ups all areas that need attention.

Responds promptly and courteously to residents, families, and visitors requesting assistance.

Interacts with residents showing empathy, kindness, compassion, and respect.

Maintains a safe and secure working environment free of objects/situations that could cause harm or falls to residents, families, visitors, and associates.

Practices good body mechanics and safe working habits.

Observes, repairs, and reports safety hazards immediately to supervisor.

Provides assistance to associates when requested or required.

Knows, understands, and follows established policy and procedures in emergency situations.

Is considered essential personnel during emergencies and/or inclement weather and is required to report or remain at the community until released by supervisor.

Knows, understands, and complies with HIPAA regulations.

Demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude about work issues, policies, and procedures.

Complies with attendance and call‑off policy.

Attends and/or participates in trainings, in‑service and mandatory meetings.

Serves and assists residents in the dining room at breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.

Participates in leisure activities provided to residents as described in the activity calendar.

Willingly takes on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties.

Performs all other reasonable duties as assigned or requested.

Physical Demands Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear. Frequently required to climb or balance, taste or smell. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment May be occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non‑weather) and blood‑borne pathogens.

Qualifications Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Math Ability: Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s; perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
