About the Position

Job Title: RN - PACU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 17:00 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year of PACU experience License: Registered Nurse license Certifications: BLS & ACLS Must-Have: - Minimum 1 year current PACU experience - BLS & ACLS Description: Travel RN position in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. Unit consists of 17 pre/post bays with 3 full-time and 1 part-time staff. Day shift staff is supported by PRN personnel. Patient ratios are Pre-Op 1:2, PACU Phase 1 is 1:1, and Phase 2 is 2:2. The unit is equipped with stretchers, blood glucose monitors, vital sign monitors, and Pyxis machines. Electronic Medical Record system used is Meditech. This unit primarily performs total joint procedures, sports medicine, foot and ankle surgeries, as well as some podiatry, hand, and nerve cases. General surgery procedures include hernias, laparoscopic appendectomies, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, and breast surgeries with some plastic reconstruction. Ideal candidates should be team players, flexible with shifts, dependable, hard workers, and possess a positive attitude. Call for PACU coverage is 1-2 shifts per week, minimally 1 shift from Monday to Thursday. Travelers may assist with weekend call shifts if the regular weekend RN is off. For winter holidays that fall from Monday to Thursday, the team divides call responsibilities. This facility specializes in 80% orthopedic cases and 20% general cases. The team has kind surgeons and a supportive anesthesia provider team. Full-time nurses work in both the PreOp and PACU areas, dedicated to patient and departmental success. Team morale is high, and the nursing staff has considerable experience. The facility is noted for its cleanliness and beauty, having been built only 5 years ago. PACU nurses collaborate closely with floor nurses, fostering a fantastic working relationship.
