Essential Functions:

• Evaluate dog behavior, reactions, and interaction with other dogs to complete the initial dog screening evaluations also called “interviews”
• Monitor dog behavior
• Feed dogs and administer medications as directed (only certain senior positions)
• Maintain continuous focus and attention on dog interactions to prevent fights/altercations and injuries
• Observe and learn dog behavior and signs of aggression in order to appropriately assign dogs to the proper play yards
• Perform dog health evaluations throughout day
• Clean play yards, cabins, and all common spaces: mopping, sweeping, and scrubbing
• Clean up after the dogs including poop scooping and pee mopping
• Perform janitorial duties: restocking supplies, taking out trash and basic kennel maintenance
• Perform dog washes, nail trims, and other basic grooming tasks
• Report to Leads and Managers of any problems
• Ensure campers are happy and healthy
• Engage campers in play and divide attention among all campers
• Performing great customer service to clients
• Providing water and room service to every dog daily
• Escort dogs to/from cabins, yards, lobby appropriately
• Attend additional training as management deems necessary

Requirements/ Expectations:

• Must love dogs (of all breeds and sizes)
• No previous dog experience necessary but is helpful and preferred
• Counselors spend almost all day on their feet. This position is a physically-intensive job requiring lifting, bending, carrying and repetitive motions, cleaning (scrubbing walls, fences, cabins, etc.)
• Must be able to physically handle all sizes of the dogs we take at Camp Bow Wow
• Must have a high tolerance for barking and excessive noise
• Periodic exposure to jumping dogs and dog altercations
• Must have a high tolerance for dog hair, dander, smell
• High school experience or equivalent
• Reliable transportation
