Principal Controls Specialist – Modeling and Simulation Full‑time, Indianapolis, IN or West Lafayette, IN (Hybrid schedule – 3 days onsite) Overview As a Principal Controls Specialist – Modeling and Simulation, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for developing, testing, and continuously integrating the hardware and software test environment used in the development and qualification of electronic engine control software and hardware‑in‑the‑loop investigations. Responsibilities Ensure all delivered test and simulation products meet program requirements. Coordinate with engine control project teams, external customers, and hardware and software vendors supporting simulation test assets. Manage hardware/software builds, tools, and processes used for executing on the simulation environment. Participate at all stages of a project lifecycle from concept development, integrated/component testing through final production release and maintenance. Plan, design, and develop software solutions for real‑time simulation test platforms. Integrate, test, and troubleshoot software/hardware and software/software designs. Manage and improve the automated build and execution tool and process for batched test programs on the simulation environment. Mentor engineers to improve technical capability and project performance. Enable technical excellence of engineering deliverables for projects. Lead a team of simulation engineers, coordinating technical tasks, commitments, deliveries, and communications with an engineering program. Present technical data to senior engineers, management, and customers. Basic Requirements Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of software simulation experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience in software simulation engineering (development or testing), or JD/PhD. Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain/maintain a US DOD Secret Clearance. Preferred Requirements Experience in modelling, simulation, and control systems. Strong understanding of software configuration management and software architecture. Knowledge of electronics (sensors, actuators, and processors). Strong software development skills in C/C++, Python, CMake, Bash, Simulink, and continuous integration/automation tools (e.g., Jenkins). Experience with UNIX shell and build environments. Hardware (electronics/circuits) troubleshooting experience. Experience with MIL‑STD‑3022. Knowledge of software design patterns and testing frameworks. Familiarity with embedded systems architecture and design. Understanding of UNIX, Windows OS, and build environments. Certified Modeling & Simulation Professional certification.
