Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Safely administer medications including heparin drips and occasional PCA medications (morphine, Dilaudid) in accordance with state practice standards and facility policies
• Manage post-operative orthopedic patients (backs, hips, knees, necks) including care of surgical drains such as Hemovac, True-close, and JP drains
• Operate Alaris infusion pumps and Hercules beds; manage oxygen delivery via nasal cannula, non-rebreather mask, venturi mask, and BiPAP (non-continuous only)
• Serve as point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments and communicate effectively with patients, families, and all members of the care team
• Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and act as a patient safety advocate throughout the unit

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license in state of practice or covered by compact licensure
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
• Dysrhythmia Exam required prior to start (study guide available)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively interact with patients and multidisciplinary staff

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with post-operative orthopedic patient care including proper mobilization techniques for back, hip, and knee surgical patients
• Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
• Experience working with bariatric surgery patients
• CCRN or PCCN certification
