The Sober Connection is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to serve as Contract Medical Director and Collaborator for Steele Creek Wellness, an Inpatient Mental Health Residential treatment facility in Jonesboro, GA. This hybrid contract role requires a consistent on-site presence of one half day weekly to provide clinical operations support, staff oversight, and ensure regulatory compliance. This position is an independent contractor role focused on leadership and medical oversight without direct patient care involvement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all medical services across programs, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards
• Supervise and collaborate with Nurse Practitioners per Georgia state regulations, including chart review and clinical guidance
• Review, co-sign, and ensure timely completion of documentation in the EHR such as admissions, progress notes, orders, and discharges
• Approve, develop, and maintain medical and medication-related policies, procedures, and clinical protocols
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and care planning as necessary
• Contribute to quarterly Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement meetings and support audit readiness (CARF, Joint Commission, state)
• Provide remote consultation outside of on-site days for urgent clinical needs or provider support

Required Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD or DO) with Board Certification in Psychiatry
• Active, unrestricted Georgia medical license and DEA registration
• Professional liability insurance with minimum coverage of $1,000,000/$3,000,000
• Minimum of 1 year experience in behavioral health, addiction medicine, or similar setting
• Experience in detox, residential, or inpatient psychiatric settings preferred
• Strong knowledge of LOCUS criteria, withdrawal management protocols, and psychiatric best practices
• Ability to work independently as a contractor while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

• Board Certification in Psychiatry
• At least 1 year of experience in behavioral health
• Active Georgia medical license and DEA registration
• Experience in psychiatry and behavioral health settings
