Maintenance Technician

Maintenance Technician - 3rd Shift (5pm-5am)

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform both preventive and reactive maintenance on a variety of equipment. The role involves working with machinery such as proofers, ovens, mixers, flower systems, high-speed packaging, fillers, metal detectors, labeling machines, and compressors. The work is approximately 70% mechanical and 30% electrical, and includes general facilities maintenance. Key tasks involve utilizing blueprints and schematics, performing MIG and TIG welding on stainless steel (with a majority focus on TIG, training available), using mills and lathes to machine parts, troubleshooting and repairing 3-phase motors, and working with pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on various equipment.
• Utilize blueprints and schematics effectively.
• Conduct MIG and TIG welding on stainless steel, with a focus on TIG.
• Use mills and lathes to machine parts.
• Troubleshoot and repair 3-phase motors.
• Work with pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
• Handle general facilities maintenance tasks.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience.
• Experience in mechanical and electrical repairs and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in using blueprints and schematics.
• Experience working with voltages up to 480V.
• Ability to wire 3-phase motors.
• Possession of own tools.

Work Environment

The maintenance team currently consists of about 12 members, including maintenance technicians, controls techs, and HVAC techs, with plans to expand to 20 members. This role operates in a baking environment, which can be warm in the summer and cooler in the winter. It is a GMP environment requiring steel toe boots, uniforms, ear plugs, hair/beard nets, safety glasses, and bump caps. The role includes working 6 overnight shifts from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM, with an initial training period on the day shift (5:00 AM to 5:00 PM) for 4-6 weeks. You will work 5 days a week, with two non-consecutive days off, totaling about 60 hours a week. Shifts will eventually transition to 8-hour shifts, with shift selection based on seniority.

Job Type & Location: This is a Permanent position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $72800.00/yr. Union Benefits Paid Leave Vacation Time Health, Dental, Vision
