Pay: $30.00–$37.00 per hour

Maintenance Technician – CNC Manufacturing Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our aerospace manufacturing team in Westfield, MA. This direct-hire position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing CNC machines and manufacturing equipment to maximize uptime and support daily production. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, experience with CNC equipment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on CNC machines and manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system issues to minimize equipment downtime.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and complete repairs efficiently.
• Support preventative maintenance (PM) programs and ensure critical equipment remains operational.
• Monitor and maintain machine fluid levels and perform routine equipment inspections.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with machine operators to minimize production interruptions.
• Perform general facility maintenance, including minor building repairs and upkeep.
• Maintain shop cleanliness through sweeping, painting, equipment cleaning, and general housekeeping.
• Safely handle hazardous materials, chemicals, lubricants, and maintenance supplies.
• Use maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Receive materials and equipment using forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate equipment issues to supervisors.
• Follow all company safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum of 5 years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience.

• Experience maintaining and repairing CNC machining centers and manufacturing equipment.

• Knowledge of CNC machines, including:- Niigata

  • Matsuura
  • Nakamura
  • Mazak
  • Haas
  • Yasda

• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

• Experience with preventative maintenance programs.

• Ability to identify potential maintenance issues before equipment failure occurs.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Forklift experience or ability to become certified.

• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.

• Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation.

Working Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing environment with exposure to CNC machinery, moving equipment, cutting fluids, machine noise, forklifts, overhead cranes, and industrial maintenance activities. Occasional travel between the Westfield and Southwick facilities may be required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to read machine manuals, blueprints, and maintenance documentation with or without corrective lenses.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds as needed.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb stairs, push, pull, and work inside CNC machines for extended periods.
• Ability to climb into and out of machinery to perform inspections and repairs.
