Job Opportunity

Position: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery unit, requiring a strong background in obstetric nursing with a focus on patient care during labor and delivery.

Shift Details

• Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30)
• Float Required: Yes (Post-Partum, NICU based on skill set)

Experience Required

• 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing.
• Travel experience is required.

Charting System

• Experience with Epic is required.

Certifications

• Required: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
• Preferred: ACLS

Skills

• IV therapy/Phlebotomy
• Administration of blood and blood products
• Maintain central lines (CVC / PICC)
• Medication Administration, including:
• Anticoagulation therapy
• Antihypertensives
• Insulin drips
• Magnesium Sulfate therapy
• Labor and Delivery Management, including:
• Assistance with high-risk delivery
• Circulating for C-sections
• Recovery for C-sections
• Sterile vaginal exams
• Pain Management, including:
• Epidural Anesthesia
• Pain assessment and management
• Use of PCA (IV)

Work Environment

• Facility births per month: 200-300
• Experience with high-risk antepartum care and labor and delivery.
• Teaching hospital environment.
• Patient age groups: Adolescents, Infants, Adults.

Procedures and Equipment

• Blood/Blood Products Administration
• Cardioversion/Defibrillation
• Cooling/Warming Blanket
• Drains, Epidural Pumps, PCA Pumps, Syringe Pumps
• Wound Vacuum Therapy
• Administration of Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
• Attend all deliveries, including high-risk deliveries and GYN surgeries.

Patient Care Focus

• Manage patients with labor and preterm labor.
• Utilize 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms.
• Participate in OB-GYN, Post-Op, Pre-Op, and Scrub duties.
• Involvement in Low-Risk Antepartum and Transition Nursery care.
• Monitor staffing ratios of 1:1 to 1:3.
