Job Summary

 

Evolve502 seeks a Student Support Coach who will play a pivotal role in the retention and degree attainment of current Evolve502 scholars at our partner institutions.  Evolve502’s mission is that every child in Louisville is prepared for college, career, and a successful, productive life.

The Student Support Coach will meet one on one with a cohort of students at one of our partner institutions such as Simmons College of Kentucky, Jefferson Community and Technical College or any of the other KCTCS colleges. The coach will provide tools and resources for students to navigate post-secondary education and to ensure their successful completion. The coach will also leverage community partnerships to better support the students and get them connected to resources to aid in their success and meet their basic needs.

Duties and Responsibilities :

 

·        Assist in planning a summer orientation program for Evolve502 Scholars to help prepare them for the transition into college.

·        Conduct outreach to incoming students who need to complete their college admissions requirements such as testing, Mymajors survey, transcript requests, etc.

·        Host monthly workshops for scholars to promote holistic growth such as career preparation, self-advocacy, budgeting, and transfer pathway opportunities.

·        Meet one on one with assigned students monthly to establish goals related to their academic plan, career pathway, and social integration into their college, and address any barriers to those goals.

·        Connect students with campus offices and resources to address their academic, social, and basic needs addressed.

·        Follow up with students who are placed on academic warning and probation to re-establish academic goals.

·        Plan an end of the year celebration for Evolve502 Scholars who will be graduating.

·        Serve on designated Evolve502 committee(s).

·        Assist Student Succes Team in community and high school outreach events as needed.

·        Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

The Student Success Coordinator will have at minimum a BA or BS degree, and at least two years of work experience, in student support, social work, counseling or other education fields. In addition, candidates must have:

●       Experience related to the provision of holistic student support services at the high school or 2- or 4- year postsecondary levels.

●       Commitment to inclusive excellence and the ability to develop mentoring relationships with a diverse student population.

●       Proactive problem solving, and creative solutions to address the complex needs of students.

●       Adaptability, flexibility, and an ability to learn quickly in order to serve the needs of students.

●       Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and attention to detail

●       Ability to build relationships and connections between individuals and systems that can help support students in need.

●       Microsoft Office Suite skills

 

Compensation:

The position is a professional, full-time, exempt staff assignment. Compensation will be commensurate with skill level and experience. This position is grant funded.
