The City of Missouri City, Texas, seeks an experienced, hands‑on, and service‑oriented professional to serve as its next Director of Fleet & Facilities. This is a high‑impact leadership opportunity to shape the systems, standards, and operations that keep Missouri City ready to serve.
The Director of Fleet & Facilities leads the City’s fleet, facilities, asset management, and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance functions. The Director ensures that City vehicles, equipment, buildings, and related assets are safe, reliable, accessible, and operationally ready.
The Director serves as a member of the City’s leadership team and reports to the City Manager or designee.
The Community
The City of Missouri City is a diverse, growing, and well‑established community located approximately 20 miles southwest of downtown Houston. Primarily situated in Fort Bend County, with a small portion in Harris County, the City benefits from convenient access to U.S. 90A, State Highway 6, Beltway 8, and the Fort Bend Toll Road.

The Department
The Fleet & Facilities Department provides essential operational support through three primary divisions: Administration, Fleet, and Facilities. The Department includes 14 authorized full‑time positions and supports the City’s ability to deliver reliable, safe, efficient, and responsive municipal services.
The Department currently supports approximately:
- 226 vehicles
- 170 pieces of equipment
- 17 City buildings
- One Police Department annex office
- 303,963 square feet of facility space
- An FY2026 combined operating and capital budget of approximately $9.7 million
The Department works collaboratively with City departments, vendors, and contractors while emphasizing efficiency, safety, accountability, and service excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
The Director of Fleet & Facilities provides leadership and oversight for:
- Fleet and equipment management
- Facilities and building maintenance
- Contracted custodial services
- Fleet replacement planning
- Preventive maintenance programs
- Capital maintenance planning
- Asset lifecycle management
- Departmental budgeting and cost analysis
- Procurement and vendor coordination
- Customer service and internal support operations
- Emergency readiness and operational continuity
- Related asset management functions
The Director is responsible for maintaining City‑owned buildings, supporting operational readiness, managing the City’s vehicle and equipment fleet, and ensuring that municipal facilities remain safe, functional, accessible, and well‑maintained.
ADA Coordinator Responsibilities
The Director will serve as the City’s ADA Coordinator and will support city‑wide ADA compliance, accessibility improvements, and implementation of the City’s ADA Transition Plan.
This responsibility requires collaboration across departments to identify accessibility needs, coordinate improvements, support compliance efforts, maintain appropriate documentation, and help ensure City facilities, programs, services, and public spaces remain accessible.
Compensation
The expected hiring salary is approximately $150,000, depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Management, Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in fleet and/or facilities operations.
At least three years of experience managing fleet, facilities, maintenance, or related operational functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- A master’s degree
- Local government or municipal experience
- Certified Automotive Fleet Manager certification
- Certified Facility Manager certification or equivalent
- Project Management Professional certification

Experience with ADA compliance, accessibility improvements, facility assessments, capital planning, or public‑sector compliance programs is important. The ideal candidate should understand the importance of accessibility, documentation, interdepartmental coordination, and practical implementation of improvements supporting the City’s ADA Transition Plan.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative, accountable, and service‑oriented leader with strong leadership skills, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a municipal environment.
The ideal candidate will bring both strategic perspective and practice experience managing the infrastructure, equipment, facilities, and internal support systems that allow City departments to serve the community effectively.
This individual must be comfortable working with City leadership, department directors, employees, contractors, vendors, elected officials, and members of the public. The successful candidate must be able to strengthen systems, support employees, advance continuous improvement, and ensure fleet, facilities, accessibility, and asset management functions remain aligned with the City’s long‑term operational needs.
