EMT - Medical Transport - PRN

Job Category: Allied Health Work Shift/Schedule: Varies Job Summary EMT works under the direct supervision of the Medical Transport Supervisor. The role involves the treatment and stabilization of all patients, using definitive techniques within the limits of certification, as governed by the Georgia Department of Public Health. The position serves patients in the neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups and performs clinical duties in accordance with the State of Georgia EMT Scope of Practice guidelines and procedures. Minimum Job Qualifications State license as EMT‑I or AEMT High School Diploma or GED Approved Defensive Driving course and Basic Life Support (BLS) Compliance with State of Georgia Department of Public Health requirements Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of State of Georgia Department of Public Health protocols and EMT Scope of Practice Familiarity with all laws regarding emergency vehicle operation Good physical fitness and the ability to support patient transport duties Maintenance of all certifications required by the State of Georgia Office of EMS Essential Tasks and Responsibilities Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emergency medicine for pre‑hospital and inter‑facility care, ensuring consistent delivery to all patients. Ensure the emergency vehicle is clean, decontaminated, fueled, and fully stocked at all times. Maintain all ambulance equipment, account for it, and retrieve any items left at the hospital. Pursue continuing education offered by NGHS and other organizations for personal accountability and medic licensure. Use sound judgment to resolve problems following chain of command, maintaining discretion in the public interest. Dress appropriately in uniform attire per NGHS and Medical Transport policies and procedures. Operate mobile communication systems according to departmental rules and procedures. Complete patient care documentation accurately and expeditiously within State of Georgia and departmental standards.
