In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Assesses the patient and identifies patient care needsUses patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient carePlans, organizes, implements, and evaluates patient careFacilitates a safe environmentMaintains required competenciesFunctions as charge nurse as assignedMaintains an accurate and relevant record of patient careAdministers medication as ordered by physicianRecognizes life threatening situations and responds appropriatelyEstablishes collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with other Health System staff and medical staffMonitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicatorsActively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient servicesAdjusts care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patientsSupports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimenOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training:Associate's degree in nursing requiredBachelor's degree in nursing preferredCurrent licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensureUnit Description:7 South is a 25 Bed Neurosurgical/Orthopedic Unit consisting of adult and geriatric patients, working on a track schedule.Patient ratio 1:5.Our Care team consists of Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistant's, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Case Managers, Physical Therapists, Dieticians and Occupational and Speech Therapists.New Graduate Nurses are accepted and welcome!Work Experience:1-2 years of related clinical experience preferred.Orthopedic/NeurosurgicalGeneral & Podiatry surgeryWound careSurgical DrainsTracheotomyTrauma, Vascular, Cardio monitoringPCA Pump, and Telemetry required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Demonstrates positive interpersonal skillsVerbal and written skills requiredDemonstrates effective organizational and leadership skillsHas knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically servedPhysical Requirements:Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needsVisual acuity for observation of patientsMuch standing, walking, bending, and liftingMay involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materialRequired Licenses and CertificationsBLS - American Heart Association, RN - Board Of NursingCape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
