Executive Assistant To The President

Mitchell Technical College is seeking a collaborative, highly organized Executive Assistant to the President. This position provides administrative support to the President, coordinating daily office operations, scheduling, and high-level communications. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong initiative, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities with discretion and professionalism.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the President's schedule, prioritizing requests and preparing briefing materials ahead of internal and external meetings.
• Draft, review, and refine sensitive correspondence, institutional reports, board materials, and presentations on behalf of the President.
• Serve as a primary, highly professional point of contact between the President's Office and internal/external stakeholders, including the State Board, community leaders, donors, faculty, staff, and students.
• Coordinate travel arrangements and oversee executive-level institutional events, visits, and functions.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding personnel, institutional policy, budget matters, and sensitive campus affairs.
• Perform other high-level duties as assigned in direct support of the President and College mission.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Associate degree required (Bachelor's preferred); minimum of 3-5 years of executive-level administrative experience supporting presidential or senior leadership roles (higher education preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, anticipate needs before they arise, and troubleshoot issues independently.
• Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple moving parts and maintain absolute accuracy under pressure.
• High proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and comfort leveraging modern digital productivity tools and AI utilities for drafting, research, and office efficiency.
• Uncompromising ethical standards and discretion when handling sensitive, political, or confidential institutional data.

Work Environment

• This is a full-time, on-campus position located in Mitchell, South Dakota.
• Standard business hours apply, with occasional evening events or meetings.
