Associate Manager, Cable and Harness Design

Position Overview Associate Manager for Spacecraft Flight Cable and Harness Design, responsible for leading a team of engineers in electromechanical engineering research, design, development, and production support for fulfilling mission-critical wiring systems for space vehicles. Responsibilities Lead, manage, and provide technical direction to a team of engineers working on harness design, fabrication, and production support. Develop program plans, schedules, and detailed project documentation to deliver to customers and functional directors. Collaborate with subject‑matter experts to create training material for early‑career engineers and new hires, including 3D MCAD (Creo Parametric Cabling) best practices, harness design principles, and manufacturability content. Direct training of new team members on Creo Parametric Cabling, ensuring competence and skill growth toward mastery. Coordinate cross‑functional teams throughout the product development life cycle. Communicate technical status and issues to program, technical, and functional leadership as well as customers. Perform personnel management for a portion of the Spacecraft Flight team, including recruitment, selection, training, performance assessment, salary decisions, and recognition or disciplinary actions. Participate in technical reviews and audits. Key Activities Develop, maintain, and administer Spacecraft Harness Design training material. Provide leadership from requirements through development and production releases. Ensure coordination among functional groups during product development. Communicate technical status and issues internally and externally. Conduct personnel management duties as outlined above. Coordinate subordinate employee recruitment, selection, and training. Assess performance, assign work, manage salary, and administer recognition/disciplinary actions. Take part in technical reviews and audits. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience/combined education with a STEM focus. Flight Cable & Harness design or production experience with leadership of program design teams and recognized as a subject‑matter expert. Creo Parametric Cabling super‑user or expert with proven success in working with top vehicle assembly models, cable assembly models, formboard models, stick‑figure patterns, 3D best practices, and 2D drafting best practices. U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance. Desired Skills Experience generating training material, instructing others, and providing technical mentorship. Experience using Zuken schematic/cabling drafting tools or similar MCAD software for model‑based harness engineering. Collaboration with subsystems, survivability, environmental, and other specialty engineers to develop unique cables for space products. Cable and harness production experience or working with production centers. Experience presenting to leadership and customers during design reviews and technical interchange meetings. Location & Schedule Office‑based at the Lockheed Martin Space facility in Littleton, CO. Teleworking is not supported. Expected schedule is a flexible 9x80 with every other Friday off. Security Clearance Top Secret clearance required. No clearance is necessary to start; a U.S. citizen must obtain and maintain the clearance. Compensation & Benefits Pay Rate: $109,200 – $192,510 annually, depending on location (California, Massachusetts, New York, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, Washington DC). Salary ranges may vary by state.
