This position requires full-time availability and may include some weekend shifts as needed. Work hours may vary based on location, patient volume, and business needs.Medical Assistants at CloseKnit perform a blend of clinical and administrative duties, working closely with providers and staff to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality patient care.Work Schedule & Location FlexibilityThis position requires traveling to our Germantown practice twice a week, Montgomery Village practice twice a week, and our Rockville practice once a week. The schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.Work schedules may vary depending on practice location, patient demand, and operational requirements.Based on business needs, Medical Assistants may be required to work at multiple clinical locations.Flexibility is essential to support coverage needs and ensure continuity of patient care across practices.Work hours may include evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on patient needs.Core ResponsibilitiesClinical ResponsibilitiesAssist providers with exams, diagnostic testing, and in-office procedures.Conduct clinical intake, including detailed patient histories and vitals.Administer injections and medications as directed by licensed providers.Perform venipuncture and collect lab specimens (blood, urine, POC testing, etc.).Operate medical equipment such as EKG machines and other diagnostic tools.Prepare specimens for laboratory testing and conduct basic lab procedures.Educate patients on treatment plans, follow-up care, and self-care instructions.Maintain clean, stocked, and properly sanitized exam rooms.Support quality initiatives, including PCMH-related tasks and clinical KPI adherence.Administrative ResponsibilitiesGreet and register patients with a professional, friendly demeanor.Manage check-ins, check-outs, and verify insurance coverage.Maintain and update patient information in the electronic health record (EHR).Schedule and reschedule patient appointments, including physicals and chronic care visits.Process prior authorizations, referrals, and daily patient callbacks.Track and link diagnostic imaging orders to results.Manage inventory, medical supplies, and perform daily opening and closing procedures.Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and OSHA.Support staff coverage needs and assist team members when necessary.Communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.Technical & Operational ExpertiseProficiency in EHR systems and medical software.Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment or software issues.Stay current with evolving clinical practices and technologies.Provide basic technical guidance to team members regarding medical equipment or EHR workflows.Professional ExpectationsMaintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical and legal standards.Demonstrate professionalism through punctuality, appropriate attire, and respectful communication.Exhibit strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.Deliver patient-centered service with empathy, patience, and compassion.Working RelationshipsClinicians (providers and advanced practice clinicians).Clinical support staff.Administrative and practice leadership teams.Why Join CloseKnitCompetitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.Health, dental, and vision insurance.Life insurance.401(k) retirement plan.Paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick leave).Professional development and continuing education opportunities.Supportive, collaborative, and inclusive work culture.To advance your application, you must email your current (not expired) CCMA, CMA, or RMA certification to View email address on click.appcast.io. Thank you!RequirementsRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED.Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.Current CCMA, CMA, or RMA certification.Current BLS or CPR certification.2+ years of Medical Assistant experience.Experience using EMR systems.Competency in:Clinical intake and patient data collection.Lab specimen collection (including venipuncture).Point-of-care testing.EKG testing.Must meet all applicable state requirements and maintain active certifications.Preferred Qualifications2+ years of customer service experience.Experience in primary care, internal medicine, immediate care, or emergency care.Familiarity with systems such as eClinicalWorks or Athena.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Knowledge of population health initiatives.Understanding HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.Physical RequirementsRequires the ability to stand and sit for hours at a time (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 50 lbs.Reasonable accommodations available for qualified individuals.
