Sales Consultant

La‑Z‑Boy Inc. is seeking a Sales Consultant for our Waldorf, MD Furniture Gallery. Compensation Base pay of $14.50/hr (varies by store location) plus unlimited commission (3% on design sales, 2% on other sales). Quarterly bonus opportunity up to $1,500. 2–6 week training at $16/hr. Eligibility for state/local minimum wage compliance. Key Responsibilities Drive sales and meet store sales goals by selling furniture, accessories and services offered by La‑Z‑Boy. Promote the Design program and assist the Designer to achieve established sales goals. Consistently execute the La‑Z‑Boy selling process and provide a favorable experience for all customers. Develop and utilize sales skills and principles – approach, rapport building, needs discovery, customized portfolio presentations, answering objections, closing, follow‑up, after‑sale service, and ongoing contact with all customers. Maximize store promotions, marketing initiatives and grassroots programs. Maintain strong knowledge of features and benefits of existing and new product lines. Schedule professional home consultations to present customized room designs, including sample fabrics, furniture, tables and accessory recommendations, and benefits of professional installation service. Execute and champion the Design process following company guidelines. Support design‑related functions in the store. Provide the highest level of customer service, ensuring each La‑Z‑Boy customer has an informative and positive experience. Effectively use Podium to ensure customer satisfaction and future follow‑up. Make sound business decisions to deliver customer satisfaction and promote a team environment. Respond to incoming phone calls and emails, and assist in handling customer issues or complaints with appropriate solutions. Maintain a positive working relationship with all store employees. Assist in training, coaching and developing new peers on La‑Z‑Boy product knowledge and selling process to achieve store sales goals. Assist with visual appearance of the store – maintaining floor and showroom displays, tagging products and accessories, maintaining accessory catalogs and design center fabrics, supporting floor moves and general cleanliness. Accurately complete order information, collect deposits and fees, keep orderly customer records and research payments and deliveries. Responsible for accurately completing daily On‑Point system logs. Show a sense of urgency, enthusiasm and excitement with the store team and customers. Maintain adequate knowledge of company standards, product knowledge and internal processes and systems. Schedule deliveries with customers and handle opening and closing of the store. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Previous selling experience and ability to close sales strongly preferred. Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal skills; effective communication, rapport building and positive influence. Demonstrated persuasion and negotiation skills. Effective time management and ability to handle competing priorities. Team oriented and collaborative. Ability to work the required schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Initiative to meet assigned goals and objectives. Strong attention to detail. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Ability to pass background and drug screen.
