Job Title: Emergency Department Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years ED RN experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI required; TNCC preferred Must-Have: 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI certifications Description: The facility is a licensed bed hospital without a trauma designation. It is not a teaching hospital and does not host residents or students. The facility is recognized as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center. Travelers must have a permanent address that is 50 miles outside the home unit. The Emergency Department has 16 beds. Patient types include both pediatric and adult. Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, Chest Pain, MI, N-STEMI, Stroke, TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, uncontrolled DM, and minor trauma. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4-5, based on patient acuity. Required skills include general Emergency Department competencies, cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, ventilator management, chest tubes, peripheral IV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, and ESI assessments. Support within the department includes CNA and charge nurse roles, but patient assignments may vary. Ancillary departments, such as RT, are available 24/7, along with hospitalist and ED physician teams. Bedside and central telemetry monitoring are implemented as part of patient care. Travelers will be required to float based on regional needs and may be assigned to various facilities within the designated area as necessary. Weekend rotation is required every other week, and travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays, with an obligation to extend the contract duration if unable to meet the contracted hours. Scrub color required is navy. Free parking is available on-site.
