Position Summary

Ethic Tech, LLC is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Director of Accounting to lead the company's accounting operations and ensure the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of financial reporting across Ethic Tech and its affiliated entities. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Accounting will oversee day-to-day accounting functions, financial close processes, government contract accounting compliance, audit readiness, and internal controls.

 

This position requires a hands-on accounting leader with extensive federal government contracting experience who can effectively manage accounting operations while supporting organizational growth and financial objectives. The Director of Accounting will work closely with Finance, Program Control, Contracts, Compliance, Human Resources, and Operations to ensure accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and efficient business processes.

 

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting knowledge, government contract accounting expertise, and experience managing accounting functions within a dynamic, growth-oriented federal contracting environment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting Leadership & Financial Operations

• Lead and manage all accounting operations for Ethic Tech and affiliated entities.
• Oversee and ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Direct and oversee:
• General Ledger
• Accounts Payable
• Accounts Receivable
• Payroll Accounting Oversight
• Fixed Assets
• Revenue Recognition
• Intercompany Accounting
• Financial Statement Preparation
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Implement and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and processes.
• Lead the preparation and delivery of financial reporting, analyses, and recommendations that support strategic decision-making and organizational objectives.
• Supervise and develop accounting team members to ensure operational excellence and professional growth.

 

Financial Reporting

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting for company leadership and external stakeholders.
• Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements across multiple entities.
• Analyze financial results and identify trends, risks, or discrepancies requiring management attention.
• Develop and maintain financial reporting schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Support executive leadership with financial analyses and reporting requirements.

 

Government Contract Accounting & Compliance

• Maintain accounting systems and processes that support compliance with federal government contracting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with:
• Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
• Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)
• Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
• Service Contract Act (SCA)
• DCAA accounting requirements
• Manage indirect rate calculations, monitoring, and reporting.
• Support development and maintenance of compliant cost structures and accounting practices.
• Prepare and support incurred cost submissions and other required government financial reporting.
• Coordinate and support DCAA, DCMA, SBA, customer, and external audits.
• Partner with Contracts, Program Control, and Compliance teams to ensure alignment between financial and contractual requirements.

 

Internal Controls & Audit Management

• Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal accounting controls.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and accounting standards.
• Lead annual financial statement audits and coordinate with external auditors.
• Manage audit requests and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
• Evaluate accounting processes and recommend improvements to strengthen controls and operational efficiency.
• Support risk mitigation efforts related to financial reporting, compliance, and accounting operations.

 

Cash Management & Treasury Support

• Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital needs.
• Review cash management activities and support forecasting efforts.
• Monitor banking transactions and account reconciliations.
• Support debt compliance reporting and banking relationship management.
• Ensure proper accounting treatment for treasury-related transactions.

 

Budgeting & Financial Planning Support

• Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Collaborate with department leaders to develop budget assumptions and projections.
• Assist in preparing financial analyses, forecasts, and variance reporting.
• Monitor budget-to-actual performance and identify areas requiring corrective action.
• Provide accounting support for organizational planning and growth initiatives.

 

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
• Establish performance expectations and provide coaching to achieve departmental objectives.
• Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure adequate staffing and resource planning to support business growth and operational requirements.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8+ years of progressive accounting experience within a federal government contracting (GovCon) environment.
• Minimum of 3+ years of accounting management or leadership experience.
• Strong experience with:
• Government contract accounting
• Financial reporting
• General ledger management
• Revenue recognition
• Indirect rate structures
• Incurred cost submissions
• Audit support and compliance
• Experience managing accounting operations across multiple legal entities or affiliated companies.
• Demonstrated experience supporting DCAA audits and government contracting compliance requirements.
• Extensive knowledge of:
• GAAP
• FAR
• DFARS
• CAS
• DCAA requirements
• Cost-reimbursable, fixed-price, and time-and-materials contracts
• Experience with government contractor accounting systems, ERP platforms, and financial reporting tools.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred.
• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Experience supporting multi-entity organizations, joint ventures, or SBA/Tribal entities.
• Experience with mergers, acquisitions, integrations, or rapid-growth environments.
• Previous experience as a Director of Accounting, Accounting Manager, Controller, or similar role within a federal government contracting organization.

 

Work Environment

This position is based in Huntsville, Alabama, and is a fully onsite role located at Ethic Tech's corporate office. The Director of Accounting is expected to maintain a consistent onsite presence to effectively lead the accounting team, support day-to-day financial operations, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and oversee financial reporting, compliance, and audit activities.

 

The role requires frequent interaction with company leadership, program teams, contracts, compliance, and operational personnel to ensure accurate financial management and support organizational objectives. The Director of Accounting must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented government contracting environment while balancing strategic priorities with hands-on operational responsibilities.

 

Periodic travel may be required to support audits, training initiatives, financial reviews, company operations, and other business-related activities.
