Construction Coordinator

Job Description WSP is currently initiating a search for a Construction Coordinator for our Power Constructors, Inc. (PCI) sector for our Vancouver, WA office. This position will have the ability to work remotely from any mutually acceptable locations: Seattle, WA, Lake Oswego, WA, Clarkston, WA, Spokane, WA, Portland, OR, and Boise, ID. Be involved in projects with our EPC Project Management team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. This Opportunity Provides technical project supervision, and guidance with managing administrative, commercial, and technical components of assigned project(s) in accordance with WSP’s core values and the level of project services agreed upon in the contract by WSP and the client(s). Tasks include responsibility for the overall performance of the assigned project(s) that are of moderate size/complexity and/or local/regional in scope, and includes oversight for financial, technical, client satisfaction, quality, safety, and schedule. Ensures that responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle (proposal phase, project startup and planning, project execution, reporting, and project closeout) are adhered to, delivered, and audited with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable corporate standards for safety, execution, profitability, and operational purpose. Your Impact Constructability resource who will work closely with a dedicated civil engineer on the early development and progressive design of high voltage transmission lines and systems. Work with project team to provide oversight and input to cross‑functional teams of technical professionals to execute project work on preliminary design to 30% design on single or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, cost and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, deliverables, compliance documentation, and managing the contractual obligations to deliver the project(s) as defined in the contract. Play a contributing role in the development of project proposals, cost estimates using work breakdown structure (WBS) tasks, scope, schedules, resource plans, risk contingencies and adherence to the QA/QC plan, as applicable. Job requirements are to assist in supporting the design team with the development and constructability reviews of the following project requirements: Construction Specifications and Bid Units Construction Drawings Construction Estimates Construction Bill of Material Construction Feasibility Studies and Reviews Project Documentation Review with Project Teams Permitting Support with government agencies Environmental Support Construction Scope of Work and Schedule Collaborate with GIS to create map books Develop constructability plan for the following: Develop transmission line access road routing network and areas of effect (access road types, guard structures, work areas, landings, lay down yards, fly yards and pulling and tensioning sites) and document in Google Earth. Develop conductor pull plans inclusive of pulling location easements and construction step plans. Perform and/or participate with field trips for constructability/field verification and planning. Available for travel to project locations to perform site investigations and gain information needed for pre‑construction planning and preliminary design. Must be able to travel for field trips and constructability reviews for up to a week at a time. Participate in problem project reviews, providing input about root cause issues and potential solutions to leadership and other stakeholders. Assist with meetings with clients or other disciplines during design review cycles. Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in construction management or closely related discipline, or demonstrated proven equivalent experience. 7 to 10 years of relevant post‑education experience as a certified high voltage lineman or substation wireman, and/or Professional Project Management (PMP) certification or equivalent. Lineman or qualified construction manager experienced in high voltage transmission line systems from foundations to wire stringing, and access road routing and laydown location planning. Thorough understanding of transmission line construction procedures, specifications, drawings, bill of materials, bid units and estimates. Sound understanding of project delivery process within the high voltage industry and well‑defined background and experience in project execution. Competent critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to make assessments and calculations involving the application of project management principles, with a sound understanding of intent, impact, and optimal outcomes. Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally. Demonstrated high‑level of self‑leadership with attention to detail, multi‑tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC. Excellent communication skills and competent with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools. Understanding/experience of transmission/distribution line construction from layout, permitting, construction to energization. Ability to work with or across multi disciplines (lands, Enviro, GIS and civil/line engineering). Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Pass background check for Federal badging. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree. Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or equivalent certification. OSHA 30‑hour safety certification or similar training credential. Experience managing field operations for major infrastructure, transportation, or building projects. Proficiency in Primavera P6 or other enterprise scheduling software. Involvement in industry groups such as CMAA, ASCE, or DBIA. Compensation Expected Salary (all locations): $98,300 - $175,230.
