Leave of Absence (LOA) Specialist Clean Harbors, Norwell, MA is looking for a Leave of Absence (LOA) Specialist to join their safety‑conscious team! The role involves facilitating, coordinating, and collaborating with key stakeholders for Leave of Absence Management in the U.S. and Canada, including developing and deploying non‑occupational disability programs, procedures, processes, and policies to reduce workforce absences. The specialist will identify cost‑effective approaches to meet the needs of injured and disabled employees by offering appropriate accommodation or modified work whenever possible, build relationships with internal and vendor services to maximize effective leave‑of‑absence processes, support cost‑savings initiatives, and deliver exceptional customer service. They will also partner in developing and educating strategies for organizational absence and disability management programs, covering both occupational and non‑occupational leaves. RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe‑work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times. Contribute to the development of Disability Management Programs, procedures, policies, and processes through collaboration with vendors, brokers and internal teams, including health and wellness programs, to reduce absences due to non‑occupational disability. Establish and maintain contact with injured/disabled employees, departmental staff, health providers and others to facilitate awareness and ensure best practices are met and delivered. Serve as a point of contact for and manage all leave inquiries, assist with educating employees and managers on the leave process (SOP) and related policies for all company leaves of absence. Work in collaboration with health providers to define specific work accommodations for individual employees, identify essential job criteria, develop accommodation options, and obtain appropriate job descriptions. Ensure accurate Leave of Absence (LOA) claims entry and ongoing data integrity in both the vendor and Human Resources Information Systems. Contribute to the development of integrated modified work programs and processes that support proactive return‑to‑work principles. Fully administer and coordinate all disability claims and processes through benefit program providers and through company systems. Assist Manager LOA services when required, participate in the ADA process, align data integrity, and obtain and store all documentation. Partner with various internal departments when preparing legal reviews. Provide backup support for day‑to‑day administration of health and welfare benefits.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field. 3+ years of experience in a similar position. Strong customer‑service orientation and the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with all levels of management, staff, government agencies, and external parties. Professional presentation with both written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi‑task and prioritize while being detail oriented. Knowledge of disability management principles, programs, and legislative requirements. Experience working with third‑party leave administrators. Experience in a multi‑state, high‑compliance environment. Experience with U.S. & Canadian benefits. Pay Range: $39,000 – $111,086 annually Clean Harbors is an equal opportunity employer.
