Fiber Construction Inspector

Job Description

In search of an experienced Fiber Construction Inspector to join a fast growing telecommunications/fiber deployment company for a long-term contract opportunity in the Las Vegas market. Candidates MUST live in the Las Vegas market or be able to relocate at own expense.

Position Summary:

\n
• A construction quality professional responsible for inspecting, validating, and documenting fiber broadband construction and installation activities to ensure compliance with engineering designs, customer requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations.
\n
• This role partners with internal stakeholders, contractors, utility providers, and government agencies to support successful network deployment while leveraging technology and AI-enabled tools to improve reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and project visibility.
\n

Key Responsibilities:

\n
• Conduct field inspections of aerial and underground fiber construction, cable placement, splicing activities, and broadband infrastructure projects.
\n
• Perform pre-construction surveys and evaluate construction packages for completeness, accuracy, and constructability.
\n
• Inspect completed residential fiber installations, including ONT activations, Wi-Fi enablement, and overall service quality.
\n
• Verify compliance with engineering drawings, right-of-way documentation, permits, utility requirements, and applicable construction standards.
\n
• Monitor contractor performance and identify quality, safety, or compliance issues requiring corrective action.
\n
• Maintain accurate project documentation, inspection records, status updates, and field reports.
\n
• Review change orders, invoices, and project documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to closeout.
\n
• Participate in field meetings with contractors, utility representatives, government agencies, and internal stakeholders.
\n
• Support restoration activities by documenting damage assessments, repair requirements, and completion status.
\n
• Utilize technology and AI-powered tools to improve inspection workflows, reporting efficiency, data quality, and operational decision-making.
\n
• Track construction progress and provide updates to project teams and leadership regarding schedule, risks, and field conditions.
\n
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement across all construction activities.
\n

Qualifications:

\n
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
\n
• 3 plus years of experience inspecting telecommunications, utility, fiber optic, broadband, or outside plant construction projects.
\n
• Working knowledge of underground and aerial utility construction practices.
\n
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction work prints, permits, right-of-way documentation, and utility records.
\n
• Experience documenting construction activities and preparing inspection reports.
\n
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
\n
• Experience utilizing digital tools, mobile applications, or AI-powered technologies to improve productivity, documentation, or reporting processes.
\n
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
\n
• Ability to work independently in field environments and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
\n

Preferred Qualifications:

\n
• Experience supporting FTTP (Fiber-to-the-Premise) network construction projects.
\n
• Knowledge of GPON and XGS-PON technologies.
\n
• Experience inspecting fiber splicing activities and fiber restoration work.
\n
• Familiarity with buried service wire (BSW) placement standards and practices.
\n
• Knowledge of outside plant safety and quality standards, including applicable utility construction regulations.
\n
• Experience working directly with telecommunications contractors and utility providers.
\n
• Customer installation quality inspection experience preferred.
\n

Pay Range: $45 - $50/HR The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
