ABOUT THE POSITION
The Clark County Public Works Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Construction Management Inspector position. This position inspects routine to complex public works, capital improvement, engineering and developer-built projects for conformance to County, Federal, state and industry plans, specifications, codes and contract provisions. This role ensures that required modifications are accomplished.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience: Equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college level course work in pre-engineering, construction technology or a related field AND two (2) years of full- time construction inspection experience, preferably inspecting public works projects. Experience in a field related to the work may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis. All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Work with exposure to potentially hazardous materials and in hazardous conditions, such as traffic. Certain positions in certain departments may require possession of a valid ICC or other nationally recognized inspection certificate in at least one of the following areas: building, combination dwelling, structural, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical. Some positions may require confined space certification. Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Performs inspections of facilities such as streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways, catch basins, storm and sanitary sewers, street lights, traffic signals and controls, irrigation systems, rough and fine grading and related public works, parks and recreation and local agency projects; performs on-site inspections for capital improvement projects.
- Reviews plans, maps, specifications, soils reports, materials testing laboratory reports, contracts and other documents to ensure conformance with federal, state, County and industry codes and regulations; notes changes required and follows up as necessary.
- Interprets, explains and enforces regulations, ordinances and policies to developers, contractors, representatives of other agencies and the public; confers with County architects, engineers and inspection staff regarding possible changes to plans and problem resolution.
- Inspects safety aspects, including barricades, of jobs in progress; encourages contractors to observe applicable safety rules and regulations.
- Checks plans, pay requests and construction documents for mathematical accuracy.
- Maintains logs of inspection performed; prepares periodic and special reports as required; estimates progress payments due on contracts for public works projects; assists in contract close-out negotiations.
- Retains plans and specifications until project completion; checks "as-built" plans for completeness and accuracy.
- Uses a variety of engineering and survey tools and equipment; operates a County vehicle to travel to and from job sites.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- May serve as inspector-in-charge of a construction project; including reviewing the work of consulting inspectors.
- May perform routine field testing of construction materials.
