Commercial Construction Foreman

The Commercial Construction Foreman is a hands-on field leader responsible for executing work safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality. This role is best suited for an experienced tradesperson who leads from the front—working alongside the crew, operating equipment, and guiding daily production. The Foreman works closely with Superintendents and Project Managers to plan and execute work, coordinate resources, and maintain schedule momentum. From time to time, this position may lead smaller projects under the direction of a Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and actively participate in daily construction activities alongside field crews
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment as required
• Assign daily tasks based on crew capabilities, schedule needs, and site conditions
• Coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor activities
• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
• Maintain productivity, quality, and workmanship standards
• Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements
• Conduct daily safety briefings and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
• Track daily production, manpower, and completed quantities
• Identify material needs in advance to prevent delays
• Serve as the primary point of contact for field coordination with trade partners
• Support Superintendents with short-term planning and look-ahead scheduling
• Assist with punch work, quality control, and close-out activities

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction experience
• 2+ years in a foreman or lead-man role
• Strong ability to read and understand construction documents
• Solid understanding of jobsite safety and OSHA regulations
• Proven experience leading crews while remaining hands-on in the work
• Experience operating skid steers, compact loaders, mini-excavators, and similar equipment
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 10 (or willingness to obtain)
• First Aid / CPR certification
• Experience with commercial projects such as healthcare, retail, office, or industrial facilities
• Familiarity with small-project leadership or phased work execution

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical labor in an active jobsite environment
• Lift up to 75 lbs
• Stand, walk, climb, and work at heights for extended periods
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions

Reporting Structure

• Reports to: Superintendent or Project Manager
• Supervises: Craft laborers and assigned field crews

Work Environment

• Active commercial construction sites with exposure to noise, dust, heavy equipment, and fast-paced schedules.
