Marketing Specialist Nell Hill's | Kansas City, MO | Full-Time | On-Site | $20-$25/hour ABOUT NELL HILL'S Nell Hill's is looking for an experienced Marketing Specialist who is passionate about home design, retail storytelling, and community engagement - someone ready to own our brand presence and help the world fall in love with what we do. We are looking for a creative, proactive Marketing Specialist to lead our marketing presence from strategy through execution - social media, content, email, photography, events, and more. You will be present in the store, at events, and at the center of everything that makes Nell Hill's what it is. We are looking for someone who brings ideas before they are asked, moves with urgency and ownership, and finds real satisfaction in seeing creative work drive results. WHAT YOU'LL DO Brand Strategy & Campaigns Develop and execute marketing campaigns to drive brand awareness, customer acquisition, and follower growth Plan and maintain consistent messaging, themes, and branding across all channels Conduct market research to identify target audiences, analyze competitors, and inform strategy Build and distribute press releases to promote events, new arrivals, and brand news Develop advertising materials and campaigns to promote Nell Hill's products and services Build campaign strategy documents with timelines, content plans, and ad strategy for key sale periods Collaborate across departments to ensure marketing efforts align with business and product goals Social Media & Content Own daily social media posting - captions, asset selection, scheduling, and community engagement Actively grow our social media following through strategic content, engagement, and audience development Maintain a monthly content calendar and route content for approval on schedule Build and manage paid social campaigns, tracking performance and adjusting strategy Create graphics and promotional content for sales, events, and new arrivals Photography & Events Plan and prep monthly photo shoots, developing shot lists and managing all assets Lead and participate in on-site photo and video shoots and live social content capture Physically present to organize, execute, attend, and photograph in-store events and activations Plan and coordinate marketing support for trade shows, seasonal events, showhouses, and special projects Manage event vendors and budgets, ensuring activations stay on-brand and within cost projections Blog, Email & Newsletter Write, edit, and publish blog posts on a regular, consistent schedule and manage email distribution Maintain and publish internal newsletter content Build and manage email and SMS campaigns including sales, events, new arrivals, and blog sends Manage audience segmentation for targeted follow-up across customer groups Analytics & Reporting Monitor marketing KPIs including follower growth, engagement rates, and campaign performance Develop and lead consumer surveys to strengthen understanding of customer behavior and preferences Track projects to measure effectiveness and prepare status reports for stakeholders Website, Print & PR Manage website content including homepage updates, blog publishing, and product optimization Design flyers, signage, tags, and printed promotional materials; manage print vendor relationships Respond to media inquiries, coordinate with publications, and pitch brand thought leadership opportunities WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 3-5 years of marketing experience in retail, lifestyle, home design, or a brand-forward environment A creative ideas generator with a track record of campaigns that drove real results Strong knowledge of social media, content creation, email marketing, and digital analytics Comfortable and confident on a photo or video shoot - whether directing or capturing Available and eager to be physically present at events, shoots, and in-store activations Highly organized, self-directed, and able to self-manage multiple projects without being managed Clear communicator who collaborates well across departments and with leadership Passionate about home design, retail storytelling, and community engagement STORE HOURS Monday - Saturday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Sunday: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods, including during events Able to lift and carry equipment and materials for events and photoshoots Adaptable to a lively retail environment with frequent in-person interaction Nell Hill's is a locally owned, deeply loved store with a team that genuinely cares about the brand, about each other, and about every guest who walks through the door.
