Pursuit Manager

Black & Veatch – Locations: Overland Park, KS, US; Ann Arbor, MI, US EPC Pursuit Manager for APG (Advanced Power Generation) The EPC Pursuit Manager will lead a portfolio of electro‑chemical, petroleum‑gas, nuclear, hydro and waste‑to‑energy projects, guiding complex proposals from kickoff through submission and award. The role aligns cross‑functional efforts, drives commercial strategy, manages risk, and ensures high‑quality deliverables while fostering accountability across engineering, estimating, construction, procurement and legal teams. Key Responsibilities Lead the planning, coordination, development, review, and submission of EPC proposals in alignment with internal governance and client requirements. Own assigned pursuits that may range from moderate to highly complex scope and may include significant commercial, execution and contractual risk. Partner with sales and functional leaders to establish pursuit strategy, proposal schedules, win themes and execution plans. Drive accountability across cross‑functional teams to ensure timely, high‑quality deliverables. Monitor pursuit budgets and expenditures, providing regular updates to leadership. Support commercial strategy through pricing, cost review, value proposition development and competitive positioning. Facilitate risk identification, mitigation planning and leadership review processes required to advance pursuits. Support negotiations and lead pursuit activities through award and contract execution. Lead the handoff of proposal assumptions, commitments and basis information to project execution teams upon contract award. Capture lessons learned and continuously improve proposal processes, tools and team effectiveness. Contribute to business growth by supporting capture planning, prioritization and pursuit readiness across the APG portfolio. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical project execution field. Experience in an EPC and/or project management firm. Experience in Advanced Power Generation projects, including gas power, nuclear, hydro, waste‑to‑energy, geothermal or similar technologies. Understanding of pursuits and/or project execution from a background in engineering, project controls, project management, supply chain, subcontracts or construction. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. 8+ years of engineering, project execution or technical pursuit management experience. Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background checks, drug screening, motor vehicle records search). Certifications Proposals, sales and negotiation training preferred.
