We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist to join a respected pathology and diagnostics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for examining cell samples under a microscope to detect abnormalities, infections, and early signs of cancer. This role requires precision, critical thinking, and a deep commitment to laboratory excellence and patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Microscopically evaluate gynecologic (GYN) and non-gynecologic (non-GYN) specimens to identify cellular abnormalities
- Accurately screen and diagnose Pap smears in accordance with CAP and CLIA guidelines
- Assist pathologists in diagnosing complex or challenging cases by preparing preliminary findings
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting through the laboratory information system (LIS)
- Ensure quality control, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance in all cytology procedures
- Participate in laboratory improvement processes and continuing education initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or a related biological science
- Completion of an accredited Cytotechnology program
- Current certification by ASCP (CT) or eligibility to obtain certification
- 1+ years of experience in cytology preferred (new grads welcome with strong clinical performance)
- Knowledge of ThinPrep, SurePath, and other liquid-based cytology methods
- Strong attention to detail, visual acuity, and ability to work independently
- Familiarity with LIS systems and digital pathology tools is a plus
