Shipfitter/Welder

We are seeking an experienced Shipfitter/Welder to lay out, fit, fabricate, and weld structural components on marine vessels, barges, offshore equipment, and related steel structures. Work includes new construction, repair, and modification of hull plating, bulkheads, decks, frames, foundations, and other structural members to drawing, code, and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and specifications
Lay out, measure, cut, burn, grind, and fit plates, shapes, bulkheads, frames, and structural assemblies
Align and brace parts using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, clips, strongbacks, and temporary fasteners
Tack and weld in all positions using SMAW, FCAW, and/or GMAW (MIG); TIG as required
Prepare joints (bevel, gap, land, hi-lo) and inspect fit-up before welding
Cut and shape material with oxy-fuel, plasma, and carbon-arc gouging as needed
Install structural accessories such as brackets, clips, foundations, hatches, and stiffeners
Check completed work for dimensional accuracy and weld quality
Follow WPS/PQR, company quality procedures, and applicable AWS, ABS, NAVSEA, or class-society standards
Maintain a clean, safe worksite; work as fire watch when assigned
Perform other related duties as required
