Job Summary
We are seeking a Data Business Analyst to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and data engineering teams. The ideal candidate will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and documenting functional and non-functional business requirements, translating them into clear data specifications that enable the successful design, development, and delivery of data products, analytics, and reporting solutions.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a Data Business Analyst to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and data engineering teams. The ideal candidate will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and documenting functional and non-functional business requirements, translating them into clear data specifications that enable the successful design, development, and delivery of data products, analytics, and reporting solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document functional and non-functional requirements.
- Translate business needs into detailed data requirements, user stories, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
- Create and maintain Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), and process flows.
- Develop source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries, and data lineage documentation.
- Work closely with Data Engineers, Data Architects, BI Developers, and QA teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and implemented.
- Analyze source systems and data structures to support data integration, ETL/ELT, reporting, and analytics initiatives.
- Facilitate requirement workshops, stakeholder meetings, and sprint planning sessions.
- Support data validation, testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Identify data quality issues and collaborate with technical teams on remediation efforts.
- Ensure delivered solutions align with business objectives, compliance requirements, and data governance standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Business Analyst, or Technical Business Analyst.
- Strong experience gathering and documenting functional and non-functional requirements.
- Experience creating user stories, use cases, business process flows, and acceptance criteria.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, ETL/ELT processes, and analytics platforms.
- Hands-on SQL experience for data analysis and validation.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Synapse, Redshift, BigQuery, or similar data platforms.
- Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality frameworks.
- Experience supporting BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Familiarity with Data Modeling concepts and Source-to-Target Mapping documentation.
