Quality Control TechnicianSalary: $51,000 - $64,000 AnnuallySummary: The Quality Control Technician will implement and comply with quality assurance methods and procedures to ensure products and materials are produced in accordance with specifications in a safe and efficient manner.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Quality Control Analysis:Conduct tests and inspect concrete to evaluate quality or conformance to specificationsSample and evaluate quality of materials related to concreteMonitor equipment operation to ensure that concrete is within toleranceRecord inspection or test data, such as slump, air content, unit weight, temperature, or moisture contentInput test data into company quality control softwareTest hardened concrete for compressive strengthInput strength results into company quality control softwareAnalyze, evaluate, and resolve customer concerns involving specific conditions, situations, quantities, and other influences associated with productManage and maintain quality control software for assigned areaProduction and Processing:Perform aggregates and batch plants tests including aggregate gradation and moisture tests for State and spec projects as requiredCommunication Skills:Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and contractors via phone, e-mail or in personEffectively communicate with dispatch office to successfully ship and test concreteGlobal Responsibilities:Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this positionThis job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet business needsQualifications:Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredBachelor's degree in related field preferredACI Level 1, NICET Certified or NRMCA Short Course completion on aggregates or concrete are requiredValid driver's license requiredIDOT PCC Level I or WDOT PCCTEC I certification(s) or higher are preferred (IL South, IL North, and WI region only)Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control are preferredExperience:Experience in related field preferredSkills/Abilities:Able to read, write, and speak English preferredAble to operate a smart phone/deviceProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteWorking Conditions:Operation within a fast-paced environmentExposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, heavy construction equipment, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditionsNoise level is usually moderate, but can be high and requires personal hearing protection on occasion at job sites, plants and laboratoriesMust be able to work through stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and composureLocal travel requiredPhysical Requirements:Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and armsOccasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawlMust be able to stand and move about job sites with uneven and unpaved ground while managing concrete delivery onsiteSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focusMust be able to frequently bend in order to obtain samples from stockpiles or ground, climb ladders with buckets of admixtures, and push wheelbarrows of concreteMust be able to operate buttons, levers, and other controls located on various equipmentMust be able to work long and flexible hours as necessaryMust be able to maneuver in and around our plants, yards and jobsites as necessaryLift/Carry up to 55pounds frequentlyLift up to 100 pounds occasionallyBenefits Information:At Ozinga, we care about the well-being of our team members both in and out of the workplace.
