Senior Superintendent - Civil/Earthworks

Please note: The central office is located in Alexandria, with projects located within the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia (DMV). Demathieu Bard is a global construction group with over 160 years of experience and more than €2 billion in annual revenue. We are launching a new heavy civil construction company in the DMV region. Job Summary Reporting to the project manager, as superintendent you are responsible for on‑site coordination of construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring all specifications are met and work proceeds on schedule and within budget. You will also handle scheduling, inspections, quality control and job site safety. Extensive experience in concrete, site development (earthworks and utilities) and stormwater management is required. Responsibilities Effectively manage site employees by providing coaching and guidance and resolving any issues Coordinate the work of subcontractors and specialty subtrades, evaluate their performance Determine manpower requirements and communicate hiring needs to Human Resources Oversee detailed look‑ahead schedules and coordinate time‑sheet submissions Participate in meetings with clients Manage materials/supplies ordering, receiving process and inventory of equipment, tools, and materials Maintain as‑built drawings and construction site documents as per company procedures Coordinate site mobilization and demobilization Participate in project completion and close‑out Maintain Health, Safety and Environmental Standards and Laws By Fostering respect for health and safety and ensuring compliance among workers Ensuring all workers are trained based on the job site requirements and are aware of safe work practices Maintaining records of trainings and conducting site orientations for new hires Conducting weekly safety meetings, ensuring OSHA compliance, and maintaining fire and communications equipment Ensuring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safeguards are available, used properly, and in good repair Harmonizing the health and safety programs of the general contractor and subtrades and adjusting them accordingly Reporting incidents, participating in investigations, conducting workplace health and safety risk analysis, and coordinating work stoppages if necessary Ensuring emergency preparedness and conducting drills or simulations Qualifications Required Education: Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management/Engineering, or equivalent in experience Certifications / Licenses: Current Driver's Licence Experience and Knowledge: Mandatory: 10+ years of experience in site development – earthworks, utility, stormwater management Minimum 15 years’ experience as a superintendent in civil construction Excellent knowledge of concrete, experience in large concrete pours and formwork Proficient in reading plans and specifications Impeccable safety record Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and policies to ensure compliance through reporting and administration Health and Safety Required Training: OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 Core Competencies Out‑going team player Advanced communication skills, both oral and written Accountability Job Specific Competencies Advanced planning and scheduling Forward thinking Outstanding leadership and coaching skills Workplace health and safety awareness Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills Personal credibility Assets Experience in data center projects Network of skilled craftsmen and foremen to call upon Ability to speak Spanish Knowledge of French Work Conditions Mobility for various assignments within the DMV Willingness and ability to work overtime when necessary to deliver the project on time Travel Willingness and ability to travel to the site location(s) We are an EEO/AA/ADA/Veterans employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr Demathieu Bard Canada
