Group Lead/Weld

Position Overview As a Group Lead Manufacturing Technician in Coach Weld, you will provide coordination for daily duties, assign work to team members, closely monitor manufacturing progress, and support employees. What Your Day Will Look Like Define key production work steps, sequences, and durations and set up work scope per station or cell basis. Prepare standardized work instructions. Coordinate work schedules with operational goals. Implement manufacturing improvements, complex process changes, and technology changes. Provide critical process control guidance to production, maintenance, and quality control to improve dimensional accuracy and overall product quality. Ensure all safety measures are followed. Escalate issues to manager or appropriate support group. What Will Make You Successful High School Graduate or GED. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a welding manufacturing environment. Demonstrated strong mechanical and welding aptitude. Proficiency in SAP. Proven ability to train and mentor team members. Experience successfully leading a diverse production team. Track record of problem‑solving and implementing effective countermeasures within assigned responsibility. Proficient understanding of blueprints, WPS, and welding symbology. We Would Be Impressed If You Had 3+ years of experience planning and supporting the launch of new production lines in a low‑speed production environment (e.g., rail, aviation/aerospace, naval, heavy equipment). Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. Welding experience in the rail business, preferably in light rail or heavy rail. Practical experience in customer service, maintenance, or aftermarket businesses in the rail industry.
