Job Summary

Join the dedicated team at Tsehootsooi Medical Center in Fort Defiance, Arizona, as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse. This dynamic unit encompasses an 11-bed Main ED, a 6-bed ED Fast Track, and a 7-bed ED Observation Unit, providing comprehensive care to a diverse patient population requiring urgent and emergent medical attention.

In this role, you will be an integral part of a fast-paced environment, rotating regularly through all areas of the Emergency Department. Responsibilities extend to Triage, Quick Registration, Covid Tent, and Entry Screening, ensuring broad exposure and skill utilization across various critical functions. The ideal candidate thrives in a flexible setting, adapting quickly to changing patient volumes and unit needs, and may be assigned to assist with COVID testing and immunization clinics as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care, assessment, and intervention for patients in the Emergency Department, including Main ED, Fast Track, and ED Observation Unit.
• Rotate through and manage assignments in Triage, Quick Registration, Covid Tent, and Entry Screening areas.
• Adapt to daily and intra-shift reassignments based on patient acuity, volume, and departmental requirements.
• Assist with COVID testing and immunization clinics as needed.
• Float to other departments within the facility as qualified and competent, providing either direct patient care or task-oriented support (e.g., answering call lights, phones).

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience in an Emergency Department setting.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Night Shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
• Schedule: Typically 7 days on, 7 days off, resulting in 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next.
• Shift Duration: 12 hours.
• Days per Week: Average of 3 days per week.
• Contract Length: 16 weeks.
• Start Date: September 21, 2026.
• Flexibility: Shifts may be subject to change during the contract, including potential requirements for day shift coverage. Expect to float to other departments as qualified.
• Time Off: Maximum of one (1) week of Requested Time Off (RTO) may be approved, if needed.

Licensing Requirements

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona or a compact state.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
• Conscious Sedation certification (can be obtained through the facility after confirmation).
