Overview City/State: Suffolk, VA Work Shift: Multiple shifts available, including night shift. Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Ortho/Spine/Bariatrics Unit. Sign on bonus: up to $20,000 available for qualified candidates on nights, and $7,500 available for new graduates. About the Unit The 1 East Surgery Unit is a 24‑bed unit specializing in orthopedics, spine, and bariatrics, providing high‑quality short‑stay care. The RN staff can expect a 1:5 or 1:6 patient ratio and an average of 6‑8 patient discharges per shift. The unit also sees high acuity surgical patients from endoscopy, general surgery, and GI. The environment is fast‑paced and staffed with patient care technicians, unit coordinators, and experienced preceptors to foster learning and professional growth. The RN upholds standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, evaluation) and professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, environmental health).
