This role focuses on operating and supporting highly automated packaging and filling lines in a food and chemical manufacturing environment. You will work on dip and dressing lines, handle various packaging materials, perform product inspections, and ensure smooth, efficient production flow across different product lines and shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor packaging lines and machinery, including highly automated equipment used for dips, dressings, and other finished goods.
• Work on dip and dressing lines to package lids, bowls, bottles, and other finished products according to production specifications.
• Inspect products for quality, accuracy, and proper packaging, ensuring all items meet established standards.
• Keep product flowing on the lines by clearing jams, adjusting equipment as needed, and maintaining consistent throughput.
• Check labels for accuracy, placement, and legibility, and correct any issues promptly.
• Unjam lines and resolve minor equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
• Assist with changeovers between different product lines, including staging materials and adjusting machine settings as required.
• Monitor packaging and filling lines to identify and report any irregularities, safety concerns, or quality issues.
• Lift boxes onto pallets, stack products safely, and wrap pallets for secure storage and shipment.
• Use computers to verify and print orders, ensuring accurate documentation and order processing.
• Operate EPJS and RF scanners to track materials, products, and inventory throughout the production process.
• Handle materials and perform general production and general labor tasks to support overall manufacturing operations.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and use of required footwear, while working on the production floor.
• Collaborate with team members across all three shifts to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.

• 2–3 years of experience working on packaging lines in a manufacturing environment.
• 2+ years of machine operating experience in production or manufacturing settings.
• 2+ years of general manufacturing experience, including material handling and production tasks.
• Demonstrated packaging line experience, including setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and consistently lift up to 50 lbs.
• Experience with inspections and quality checks on products and packaging.
• Comfortable using computers to verify and print orders and perform basic data entry.
• Ability to use EPJS and RF scanners for picking, staging, and tracking materials.
• Experience with general production, general labor, and loading tasks in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail when checking labels, packaging, and finished goods.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work assigned shifts, including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.

• Experience in food or chemical manufacturing environments is preferred.
• Background in staging materials for production lines.
• Familiarity with machine setups and changeovers for different product lines.
• Ability to work effectively in a smaller facility with approximately 110 employees.
• Comfort working across multiple shifts in a three-shift operation.
• Use of steel-toed boots or similar protective footwear appropriate for a production floor.
• Strong teamwork skills and willingness to assist in various areas of production as needed.

Work Environment

The role is based on a normal production floor within a smaller facility of around 110 employees, operating across three shifts. The environment is temperature controlled, providing a comfortable setting for working on packaging and filling lines. Machinery is highly automated, and employees use computers, EPJS, and RF scanners as part of their daily tasks. Common areas and the cafeteria are clean and well-maintained, and employees can purchase facility products at discounted rates. The position requires appropriate production-floor footwear, such as steel-toed boots, and involves regular heavy lifting and active movement throughout the shift. Available shifts include 1st shift (6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.), and 3rd shift (10:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights).

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Thornton, IL.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
