Job Title: Student Worker – CHEM Stockroom Window/Office – East Texas A&M University, Department of Chemistry Job Location: Commerce, Texas Minimum Salary: Commensurate Job Type: Student Worker Required Experience: At least one undergraduate chemistry laboratory course recorded in the transcript. Preferred candidate has completed three terms of chemistry lab classes. Responsibilities Act as Stockroom Window Attendant during laboratories (afternoons 2‑6p.m. and evenings 6‑10p.m.) and provide lab students with equipment, recording broken equipment and student debt amounts on Excel spreadsheets. Maintain supply inventory and manage general lab setup and cleanup for teaching laboratories. Follow lab safety procedures, including Hazardous Communications, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Chemical Lab Safety training. Perform general office duties: use Microsoft Office applications, operate office equipment, greet and assist student customers in the main department office. Run campus errands, assist professors with proctoring exams, class preparation, and upkeep of office/classroom equipment and supplies. Work a few hours daily in the office, according to the schedule determined by department needs. Qualifications Undergraduate student proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. Experience attending chemistry laboratories. Strong communication and customer service skills. Reliable attendance; performance will be evaluated annually. Repeated failure to perform duties or excessive missed shifts may result in termination. Subject to a criminal history investigation; employment is contingent upon verification of credentials and compliance with institutional procedures. Additional Information All positions are security‑sensitive and require a valid criminal history check. Students may work up to 19 hours per week during the semester and full‑time during breaks and summer if enrolled for the upcoming fall. Positions must not conflict with scheduled class times. Work‑study positions are need‑based federal or state aid jobs. Students do not need to be enrolled during summer if they plan to return in the fall.
