Posting Summary - Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a part-time Program Assistant for Rutgers Future Scholars (RFS). The Program Assistant will provide operational, administrative, and programmatic support for the Rutgers Future Scholars program at the Rahway, NJ site. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Supports the execution of academic year and summer programming. Assists with facilitation of workshops, advising sessions, and scholar engagement activities. Monitors scholar participation, engagement, and completion of program components. Documents program activities, attendance, and outcomes. Drafts and distributes communications to scholars and families (emails, reminders, updates). Develops and manages a bi-monthly or quarterly RFSRahway newsletter highlighting programming, scholar achievements, and opportunities. Supports social media updates aligned with RFS and Rutgers branding. Assists with outreach to maintain engagement with both in-district and out-of-district scholars. Coordinates logistics for workshops, events, and meetings (virtual and in-person). Prepares materials, presentations, and session resources. Provides real-time operational and technical support during programming. Assists with document preparation, formatting, and resource development. Supports internal coordination across RFS staff and Rahway partners. Contributes to special projects and program initiatives as needed.

FLSA - Nonexempt

Salary Details - $22 per hour

Position Status - Part Time

Working Hours - 19.5 hours per week

Daily Work Shift

Work Arrangement - Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 or the applicable provisions of relevant collective negotiations agreements, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, subject to change or discontinuation, and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the View email address on click.appcast.io Application System.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications - Experience working with youth, preferably in educational or college access programs. Experience working with first-generation student populations. Experience supporting cohort-based programs or mentoring students. Strong writing skills (newsletters, communications, reports). Familiarity with student data tracking systems and learning management systems.

Equipment Utilized - Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Zoom / Teams / virtual meeting platforms. Canva for communications and newsletter design.

Physical Demands and Work Environment - May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Travel required to the RFSRahway/New Brunswick/Piscataway middle and high schools. May required to work weekends or week nights.
