Description Denver Language School (DLS) is a public, tuition-free language immersion charter school located in East Denver. DLS provides an innovative academic program to reach the highest levels of student achievement through comprehensive language immersion education in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. DLS offers traditional learning activities in the target language, making the language both the medium and the object of instruction. Interim Assistant 504 Coordinator Two-Campus SY26-27- $58,000-$60,000 0.4 FTE - 1.0 FTE, 195 days Please note that salary is prorated to reflect the number of days worked. Part-time work will be considered for this position.

Overview of position:

The K-8 Assistant 504 Coordinator provides support to students with 504 Service Agreements and will manage students with 504 plans. They will consult regularly with general education teachers, support staff, students, and families to ensure that each child successfully completes their instructional program.

Additionally, the K-8 Section 504 Coordinator will support the evaluation process and eligibility determination for 504 plans, develop 504 plans, and monitor the implementation of Section 504 plans.

The highly qualified candidate will work closely with other teachers and school staff to ensure the implementation of Section 504 procedures in the school’s public program and is successful and operating in compliance with federal and state regulations. This position involves a significant amount of adult-to-adult facing interactions, including a large number of in-person meetings with teachers, families, advocates, representatives of the authorizing district and peers from similar schools and organizations.

This is an interim position that will only be available from September 2026 through April 2027. There may be an opportunity to extend the role, per school needs.

Pay and Benefits:

• Employees at DLS are compensated in accordance with other Denver-area charter schools. This position is paid at a rate of $58,000 - $60,000.

Please note: The above salary represents full-time employment for a full school year. The DLS will prorate the Interim Assistant 504 Coordinator’s actual salary based on the number of days worked and whether or not the role is part-time. The daily rate for this role is $297-$307.

Essential Functions and Objectives

• Manage and ensure effective 504 plan implementation for students on his/her caseload
• Develop, write and help implement 504 plans
• Coordinates Section 504 referral process
• Provides notices and consents to families
• Facilitates evaluation/eligibility determination team meetings for Section 504
• Schedule, organize and conduct annual reviews, bi-annual, and tri-annual re-evaluations of each student with a Section 504 plan
• Participate in the school’s Student Support Team across both campuses; support teachers to develop and implement program accommodations and strategies for struggling learners who may be eligible for 504 plan and/or special education services
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in the school’s Learning Management System for Section 504 students
• Assist with administering state testing and coordinate the accommodations that are required based on the 504 plan
• Effective communication with families, students, and district partners
• Attends regularly scheduled professional development and Section 504 training meetings
• Develops and implements student interventions
• Other duties as assigned

Skills

• Experience in writing 504 Eligibility and Accommodation Plans or Individual Education Plans
• Knowledge of IDEA disabilities
• Knowledge of accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology in the school setting to address all of the above issues and be able to support teachers with implementation
• Experience with using diagnostic tools and approaches to determine the root of academic concerns and their link to appropriate intervention
• Understanding of student behavior and mental health issues and appropriate interventions
• Experience with inter-agency collaboration for mental health and behavioral support
• Experience and understanding of the foundations of functional behavior assessments to develop behavioral interventions for students grades K-12
• Knowledge in understanding in regard to school refusal related to truancy or mental health issues, and distinguishing between the two
• Experience and knowledge of tiered intervention programs for academic, behavioral, and truancy problems
• Knowledge of scientifically-based and research-validated intervention and instructional programs for reading, math, writing, and behavior management
• Knowledge and experience with data-driven instruction linked to scientifically-based and research-validated interventions
• Experience collaborating with parents to build truancy elimination plans
