Mechanical Project Manager

Frontier-Kemper-Lake Shore Division , a Tutor Perini Company, is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to join our office in Evansville, Indiana . Frontier-Kemper specializes in heavy civil construction and underground mine development, providing design/build/install services for advanced hoisting and vertical conveyance systems.

DESCRIPTION

As a Mechanical Project Manager at Frontier-Kemper, you will plan, coordinate, and execute mechanical projects ensuring alignment with technical specifications, budgets, schedules, and quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects that exceed client expectations. Managing mechanical projects from conceptualization to completion, ensuring adherence to design specifications and timelines. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and electrical designers, contractors, and project managers, to develop plans and budgets. Conducting site assessments to determine feasibility, gather technical requirements, foster client relationships, and perform QA/QC checks throughout the process. Overseeing installation, testing, and commissioning of proprietary system designs, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. Ensuring projects meet specifications, deadlines, and quality standards. Analyzing project requirements and developing detailed plans to present to customers. Developing and managing project scopes, schedules, resources, and budgets for hoist-related projects. Working with design teams to ensure engineering plans meet technical requirements and regulatory standards, while being workable in the field for installation. Coordinating with customers, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to facilitate project execution. Conducting risk assessments and implementing safety measures throughout project phases to meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements. Monitoring and reporting on project progress to FKC Lake Shore Management, the customer, and all downstream workflows, identifying and addressing potential issues. Conducting quality inspections and ensuring adherence to mechanical codes and standards. Providing technical support and guidance to project teams. Staying updated on the latest engineering technologies and best practices.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 5+ years of proven experience in mechanical project management. 3+ years of experience with mechanical hoisting equipment design and operation. Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, systems, and components. Proficiency in project management software and mechanical design tools. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with project teams. Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality mechanical projects. Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make decisions in dynamic project environments. Knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices in mechanical engineering. Proficiency in using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software. Awareness of mining industry-specific codes and regulations across multiple countries. Proficiency in project design and planning, management, costing, and documentation. Ability to work individually with minimal supervision.

PREFERRED SKILLS

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or relevant certifications preferred. 5+ years of experience supporting underground mining operations. Familiarity with automation and control systems.
