Service Engineer - Industrial Machinery & Automation

Location: Wixom, Michigan | Midwest Territory
Employment Type: Full-Time

Our client is seeking a hands-on Service Engineer to provide technical service, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and customer support for advanced industrial balancing, inspection, process control, and rolling machinery .

This position is ideal for a mechanically and technically minded professional who enjoys
field service, machine troubleshooting, customer interaction, and travel . The Service Engineer will work closely with customers, internal technical and sales teams, and international engineering teams in the United States and Italy.

What You'll Do

Field Service & Technical Support

• Provide on-site
  installation, repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical support
  for customer equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, controls, and machine-related issues and determine appropriate solutions.
• Provide customer support by phone, email, remote access, and other technical communication tools.
• Respond to customer service needs and provide remote troubleshooting or on-site support as required.
• Perform machine tuning, adjustments, and calibration to achieve optimal operating performance.
• Train customers on the safe and proper operation of
  balancing, inspection, rolling, and process control equipment .
• Build strong, professional relationships with customers while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Complete detailed and timely
  field service reports
  following customer visits.

Machine Installation & Customer Training

• Study
  part drawings, electrical/mechanical schematics, manuals, and technical specifications
  to determine installation and service procedures.
• Support machine installation and final customer acceptance.
• Participate in equipment trials and demonstrations at the company's Wixom facility.
• Set up customer trials using demonstration machines and
  First Article Inspection Systems .
• Support new product launches, equipment trials, and technical demonstrations at company and customer locations.
• Travel to company headquarters in
  Italy
  for equipment pre-acceptance, product training, and technical updates.

Customer Service & Account Support

• Take ownership of customer service issues from initial contact through resolution.
• Understand customer requirements and provide appropriate technical recommendations.
• Advise management regarding
  customer satisfaction, equipment performance, service issues, and product improvement opportunities .
• Identify opportunities for additional service through
  preventive maintenance programs and service contracts .
• Provide technical support to the sales team when needed.
• Cooperate with technical, engineering, sales, and management teams to share customer and product information.

Service Operations & Equipment Support

• Coordinate service calls with
  Balance Systems Corp. and Balance Systems Italy .
• Coordinate service activities with
  Regg Inspection Corp. and Regg Inspection Srl in Italy .
• Assist with spare-parts inventory control and warehouse stock monitoring.
• Maintain showroom and demonstration equipment.
• Perform basic maintenance on demo machines.
• Support equipment demonstrations and customer trials.
• Participate in trade shows, including equipment installation, teardown, demonstrations, and technical support.
• Coordinate workflow and service activities with schedules and customer requirements.

Travel Requirements

This is a field service position requiring regular travel to customer facilities.

• Primary service territory includes the
  Midwest .
• Occasional travel throughout the United States is required.
• International travel to
  Italy
  is required for equipment pre-acceptance, technical training, and product updates.
• International training assignments may last
  up to four weeks .
• Ability to respond to customer service needs outside of normal business hours is required.
• Midwest customers may require on-site response within approximately 24 hours; customers outside the Midwest may require response within approximately 48 hours.

Qualifications

• Experience in
  field service, industrial equipment service, machinery installation, maintenance, or technical customer support .
• Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and understand
  engineering drawings, schematics, manuals, and technical specifications .
• Comfortable working directly with customers at manufacturing facilities.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating with engineering, technical, sales, and management teams.
• Ability to operate industrial machinery safely and follow established company procedures.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer locations.
• Experience with
  industrial automation, machine tools, balancing equipment, inspection equipment, manufacturing equipment, or process control systems
  is a plus.
